A Perfect Weekend in Cromer: Your 48-Hour Itinerary
Cromer is the jewel of the North Norfolk coast — a classic seaside town with a famous pier, stunning clifftop walks, and some of the best seafood in the county. Here's how to make the most of 48 hours in Cromer.
Day 1: Town and Pier
Morning: Cromer Town
Start your day exploring Cromer's town centre. The historic Church of St Peter and St Paul dominates the skyline with its 160-foot tower — the tallest in Norfolk. Browse the independent shops along Church Street and Bond Street for local crafts, antiques, and gifts.
Lunch: Cromer Crab
You can't visit Cromer without trying its famous crabs. Head to one of the seafront cafes or fish and chip shops for fresh Cromer crab — caught the same morning and simply delicious.
Afternoon: Cromer Pier
Walk out to Cromer Pier, home to the Pavilion Theatre. If you're visiting in summer, book tickets for the Cromer Pier Show — the world's longest-running end-of-pier variety show. The pier also offers arcade games, a gift shop, and stunning views back to the town and cliffs.
Evening: Sunset Walk
Walk west along the clifftop to see the sunset over the sea. The cliff-top path towards Runton offers spectacular views, especially at golden hour.
Day 2: Coast and Countryside
Morning: Cromer to Sheringham Coastal Walk
Take on the clifftop walk from Cromer to Sheringham — about 8 miles of stunning coastal scenery. The path passes through Beeston Regis and East Runton, with views across the North Sea. If you don't want to walk back, catch the Coastliner bus or call a local taxi.
Lunch: Sheringham
Arrive in Sheringham for lunch. The town has excellent cafes, pubs, and restaurants. The seafront offers rock pooling at low tide, and the North Norfolk Railway station is right in town.
Afternoon: North Norfolk Railway
Hop on the North Norfolk Railway (the "Poppy Line") for a steam or diesel train ride to Holt. The 5-mile journey through Norfolk countryside is a delight, and Holt's Georgian streets are perfect for an afternoon stroll.
Evening: Dinner with a View
Head back to Cromer for dinner. Several seafront restaurants offer fresh seafood with sea views — the perfect way to end your weekend.
